Bone Sewing Tools

Handiwork artifacts retrieved from a nineteenth century task basket  inspired a renaissance for utilitarian hand carved bone pieces.  Each is tediously crafted from water buffalo bone by a skilled artisan.

#14104 Bone Needlecase
A petite suitcase will hold sewing needles when not darning socks or mending holes. Gift boxed.

#14109 Tape Measure & Thimble Case
Untwist the base of a woven acorn to reveal a thimble while the upper portion houses the tape measure. Velvet pouch.

#14110 Tatting Tool
Tatting dates back to the early 19th c. derived from the  French word frivolité referring to the purely decorative nature of the textile produced with this technique.  The timehonoured technique creates a durable lace by constructing a series of knots and loops.  Commonly used to make lace edging, doilies, and collars. Gift boxed.
